OPTICS AND LASERS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The African Laser Atomic, Molecular and Optical Sciences Network (LAM Network) and The Edward Bouchet Abdus Salam Institute (EBASI)  in collaboration with the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the Laboratory Atomes Lasers at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar (UCAD) will organize an International Conference on Optics and Lasers in Science and Technology  for Sustainable Development, which will be held at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar from 11 to 16 January 2010.

  • Fundamental laser, atomic, molecular, and optical sciences ;
  • Optical spectroscopic techniques and sensors ;
  • Photonics and optical technologies ;
  • Laser atomic and molecular spectroscopic techniques in science and technology ; 
  • Laser and optical technologies in medicine, environmental monitoring, and bio-photonics ;
  • Environmental forensics ;
  • Optics, energy and global change ;
  • Computation and simulation in science and technology.

PARTICIPATION

The scientific meeting will consist of invited and contributed papers, poster sessions, exhibitions, and laboratory demonstrations open to scientists, engineers and medical professionals from all countries. The program will be conducted in English. Travel and subsistence expenses of the participants should be covered by their home institutions. Limited funds are available for participants from African and Developing Countries. Participants are encouraged to submit a one-page abstract on the topics of the workshop. The deadline for submission of abstracts and/or requests for financial support is 20 November 2009 and should be sent to :
